#045: see ya, sad girl summer ✌🏼

the story

It was a Friday night, the lights were low in my apartment, and Forensic Files II played on my TV as I sipped a glass of wine. I sighed out loud, happy to be home and even happier that for the first time in WEEKS my peace was undisturbed. No nagging thoughts, no anxiety, no people, just me.

Just a few months ago I had been ready to have the hot girl summer of my dreams. Now here I was, relieved to be all the way inside. The tables had turned with a quickness.

“I’m bout ready to step out with the girlies every weekend and have myself a beautiful NYC spring and summertime.”

 - me in an April newsletter, having no clue what was coming my way

EAUX. Ya’ll just don’t know how ready I am to feel crisp fall air, add a layer or two to my fits, and welcome structure back into my life. This was one emotional rollercoaster of a summer and I am ready to let go. As it comes to a close, I already find myself breathing deeper and exploring the past few months with less agony and more curiosity. This time around, we’re going for short-form lessons. A little optimization, if you will. Let’s get to it.

the lesson

  1. Buy a portable fan and save yourself from the inevitable sweat that comes with the NYC subway system.

  2. Discomfort and confusion are signs that you’re on the brink of a level up. Be patient, go inward, and don’t be afraid to pivot.

  3. The older you get, the more those quiet Friday nights alone hit different in the best way.

  4. Don’t catch feelings for your summer fling, no matter how good he is at making you dinner.

  5. The first version of a project is V1 for a reason, let go of your attachment to keeping things the same.

  6. The Venus Retrograde dragging was real, but sometimes the past needs to rear its ugly head for us to finally heal in the ways we need to.

  7. Stop playing with your life and get the pepper spray. Having to file a police report is the worst.

  8. Big dreams start with consistent, little steps. There’s no better feeling than when it all pays off.

  9. Work on shifting your vibration and thought patterns first, then focus on manifesting. That amazing opportunity is right around the corner.

  10. When all else fails, watch the tarot lady on YouTube. Sis was on point this whole summer.

the light

A new season is almost here, and with that comes the opportunity to release, reset, and move forward. So, I have to ask:

Is there anything you’re ready to let go of? After you do that, what new feelings, experiences, and people can you make room for?

I’m leaning into expansion without fear, celebrating my wins, and reminding myself just how worthy I am of the blessings that are flowing my way. Some big moments have happened lately, and they’re all catapulting me into a new chapter that I’m more than ready for. More on that later.

Before you go, take those questions and think about the kind of leaf you want to turn over in this new season. Just a little intention goes a long way.
