Hey, friends! I’m Paige Willis, a 29 year-old wellness girlie, holding it down in Chicago. I’m an entrepreneur, who’s still holding onto her day job, and when I’m not working my 9-5, I’m taking a long walk, teaching a candlelit yoga class, or making a playlist.
I met Ayorinde while working with Black Girl in Om and launched my business, Undone, in 2020. My mission is to inspire folks to take deeper, more intentional care of themselves through yoga.
the story
I bought a flight to Houston to visit my bestie, and we combined our cute lil’ coins to book a stay in this tiny cabin on the outskirts of the city. We love a luxurious staycation, ok? With the confirmation email fresh in our inboxes, we studied the website, and in true itinerary girlie fashion, we planned every detail of our trip.
I was only laying the groundwork for my business at the time, so content creation wasn’t my tea. But y’all, I could almost dream up the tutorials I wanted to create in there. I figured, what do I really have to lose from shooting my shot? The trip is booked, and the worst they could say/do is “no” or leave me on read.
So I planted a seed. And with minimal experience in the content space, barely 2 years under my belt as a yoga teacher, and a full-time job that was dominating my schedule (before work-life balance was a thing), this was bold. But it made sense to me. Moments later I pressed send on a message that introduced myself, what made me feel connected to them, and what I wanted. Luckily, that seed turned into a response, which, down the line, turned into content creation, live classes, and now, a long-term partnership.
the lesson
Always move to the rhythm of your intuition. If something feels right but seems a little delusional from the outside looking in, do it. And if you need to watch a few “lucky girl syndrome” TikToks to muster up the courage, do it.
And by now, I hope you realize this is not just a lesson on partnerships. Trust, I wished I’d applied this mentality to my life – dating, finances, career, friendships – a bit sooner. It honestly would’ve saved me heartache, corporate tears, and money.
So if you take anything from this, take it as an invitation to listen into your intuition, your gut. Don’t do anything if it doesn’t sit right with your spirit.
the light
I’m turning 30 next month, y’all. And it took me so long to view my intuition as a gift. Over the years, I’ve gotten more intentional about creating space for stillness in my life, space for that intuition to speak. That means long walks, homecooked meals in silence, moments of intentional rest, etc. It’s in these moments that I can sift through the noise and get down to what feels right to me.
Following my intuition with Getaway House allowed me to establish a rhythm of putting myself out there and asking “what if?” And that same question has brought some of the ideas, partnerships, events, and products I have today, from my Notes app to real life.
Cleo Wade says, “Do not ignore your intuition. There is an infinite intelligence within you; let it be your guiding light.”
